About me

Dmitry Gorenburg

I am a Senior Research Scientist at CNA, a non-profit think tank, where I conduct research on security issues in the former Soviet Union, Russian military reform, Russian foreign policy, ethnic politics and identity, and Russian regional politics. I am also the editor of the journal Problems of Post-Communism and a Fellow of the Truman National Security Project. From 2005 through 2010, I was the Executive Director of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies. From 2009 to 2016, I was the editor of the journal Russian Politics and Law.

The goal of this blog is to track the progress of the most recent iteration of the Russian government’s effort to modernize its military.
