Ground Forces Structure and Locations: Part 2

Here are the other three districts. Ground forces only for now. I also updated the locations on part 1, based on some additional sources. For Russian readers, much of this information is available on the forums at ryadovoy.ru, though there are contradictions in places. Warfare.ru also has some info, though much of what they have hasn’t been updated to take the recent structural changes into account (thus my effort here).

  1. this huge work was done by a group of enthusiasts in RUS forums.. it would be very polite from the author’s side to post a link or list of sources..

    • Peanut,

If you look at the top of this post, you will see the reference to sources. As I mention there, I found much of the information at the forums on ryadovoy.ru, though there are some contradictions in the information among the different forums there. In those cases, I cross-checked with warfare.ru and some other media. But the sources are in the post and have been there from the beginning.

      Best,
      Dmitry

  2. I have a question about newly formed russian army tank brigades. Many inernet sources (e.g. warfare.ru) give a list of 4 active (4th in Naro Fominsk, 5th in Ulan Ude, 6th in Mulino and 7th in Chebarkul) and 1 reserve (1st in Boguchar).
But in intereview with gen. Makarov there was a statement that only 2 tank bdes will exist in russian army. So where is the truth?

Also it was said only 27 airfields instead of today 245 will remain in use both in Air Force in Navy , but i cant find out which it will be? Dou you know some details?

    THX.

    • Julesak: The info I have for now also shows 4 active tank brigades. Perhaps there will be some reductions when they shift to the OSK command structures later this year, but we’ll have to see. On the airfields question, I don’t have anything yet, but as they say — watch this space. I hope to have something up on the revamped air force structure by the end of the month.
