I am a Senior Analyst at CNA, a non-profit think tank, where I conduct research on ethnic politics, ethnic identity, Russian regional politics, Russian military reform, and Russian foreign policy. I am also the editor of the journal Russian Politics and Law and a Fellow of the Truman National Security Project. From 2005 through 2010, I was the Executive Director of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies.
