I am a Research Scientist at CNA, a non-profit think tank, where I conduct research on ethnic politics, ethnic identity, Russian regional politics, Russian military reform, and Russian foreign policy. I am also the editor of the journals Problems of Post-Communism and Russian Politics and Law and a Fellow of the Truman National Security Project. From 2005 through 2010, I was the Executive Director of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies.
The goal of this blog is to track the progress of the most recent iteration of the Russian government’s effort to modernize its military.
